Why I love college:
No more washing and drying five loads of laundry on the weekends.
No more loading the dishwasher every other night.
No more riding the bus for hours every schoolday.
No more wiping the toilet seat after my brothers.
No more struggling to make/buy healthy lunches.
No more joining a sport just to have access to a track and a swimming pool.
I feel like I spent all of senior year waiting for these changes, but the first day I stepped on campus, I took it all for granted.
But now I’m starting to reflect on the value of the things I’ve left behind at high school and at home:
No more teaching my sister how to fold towels.
No more keeping my hardworking dad from ten more minutes of work.
No more excuse for a nap at 3:30pm. (But I take one anyway!)
No more… well, I really don’t miss sharing a bathroom with boys!
No more sense of gratitude for simple things.
No more laughter with teammates who I’ve been with since I knew what the word “teammate” meant.
