I’m going to post these to my Flickr set in August; for now, I’ve exceeded my monthly limit!
Friday night was the 5th Annual Waxhaw Town & Country Run! I met up with some friends from my track team—Jake, Sidney, John—and our friend from another school. It was my first “community” race—there were almost 500 runners!
We checked in at 5:30pm, tied the timing strips to our shoes, and mingled. The race was at 7pm. The course ran through some main roads (blocked off) and through a neighborhood. It covered some unexpected hills, with a water station at the top of one!
Let me just say that the Parkwood track team dominated. This meant gift certificates from one of the sponsors, TrySports!
(You can find all the results here.)
My mom also raced her first 5K since high school! Congrats to everyone who came out—it was great!
I wasn’t able to get pictures of my own (no batteries!!) but fortunately one of my mom’s friends took some photos.
Afterwards, there was an awards ceremony, plus lots of chatting and meeting new people. Sidney spent the night “fiestaing” at the new thing in town—The Waxhaw Fiesta Band.
I’ve been thinking a lot recently, and I haven’t been motivated to blog about any of my thoughts. I haven’t done any food posts or recipes because I didn’t take any pictures of new creations. I haven’t blogged about any of the recent track meets because I can imagine they get repetitive, and I haven’t set a new PR. (I’ve been very close, however.)
In addition, I don’t feel much responsibility in connection to blogging. I like to encourage other bloggers and share my thoughts, but I don’t have readers counting on me for a daily dose of entertainment or resources for running and eating. I’m not trying to make money and I don’t have a clearly defined mission for the blog like some.
I’m in the middle of a lot of changes—in my life and the lives of my friends. Everything is dynamic and I’m trying to… think. I’m still a teenager, and I realize that I can’t be an adult no matter how hard I try. I’m just trying to think and learn.
Tonight I’m running the Waxhaw 5K, along with some track teammates and my mom!
Have a good weekend, everyone.
